Guard rail keeps vehicles where they belong. We install steel guard rail on private property in Saint Paul and the surrounding towns: parking lot edges, loading docks, the tops of retaining walls and slopes, building corners and private drives. Work on public streets and highways is outside what we do.
Saint Paul has many lots cut into hillsides, with a drop at the edge of the pavement. A rail there is cheap insurance. It also earns its place in winter, when snow hides the curb and a plow driver needs something tall to steer by. Posts are driven or set deep enough to stay put through frost, and the steel is galvanized, since it will be coated in road salt for a third of the year.
We walk the site with you, mark where vehicles turn and park, and lay out the rail so it protects what needs protecting without blocking snow storage or drainage. Before any post is driven, the utility locate is done, because parking lots often have lighting and other lines just below the surface.
Guard rails in Saint Paul: common questions
Can you replace one damaged section of guard rail?
Yes. Bent rail and broken posts are swapped out and bolted back into the standing sections.
Is guard rail the same as a bollard?
No. A rail protects a long edge. Bollards protect a point, such as a door, a gas meter or a corner. Many sites use both, and we can install either.
Do you install on asphalt and concrete?
Yes. Posts go through the pavement into the ground below. Surface-mounted posts are used only where that is suitable for the load.
